Wizards Acquire Profit from Magic

September 22, 1999

“Orlando sends Profit to Wizards”

The Orlando Magic traded the draft rights to G Laron Profit (38th overall in ‘99 Draft) to the Washington Wizards in exchange for a conditional second round pick in 2001.

Note:

  • Orlando obtains the pick if Profit makes the Wizards’ opening day roster this season.

Who got the better of the deal?

Washington.

Why?

The Wiz got something for nothing. Profit, 6’5, is a good defender who plays the passing lanes well. He has a good chance to make the roster because of his defensive skills. He could back up Mitch Richmond and Richard Hamilton.
