2010 NCAA Women's Final Four Coverage
Semifinal Number 1: Oklahoma Sooners 66, Stanford Cardinal 73 -- FINAL.
Stanford's Nnemkadi (Nneka) Ogwumike was sensational scoring 38 points on 13 for 25 shooting from the field. Stanford never trailed in the ball game; however, leading 61-43, Stanford went cold and the Sooners went on a 23-8 to run to trim the Cardinal lead to just three points 69-66 with 16 seconds remaining.
However, after a timeout, Stanford's Kayla Pedersen threw a long pass down the court to a wide open Ogwumike for an easy lay-up to put the game away.
Oklahoma's Danielle Robinson led the Sooners with 23 points. After shooting just 25.0% (8 for 25) in the first half, Oklahoma shot 50.0% (18 for 36) in the second half.
Stanford's Jayne Appel finished the game with 13 points and 10 rebounds in only 27 minutes of action.
Semifinal Number 2: Connecticut Huskies 70, Baylor Lady Bears 50 -- FINAL.
Connecticut's Big Two proved to be too much for Baylor's Big one. Maya Moore (34 points) and Tina Charles (21 points) combined for 55 points as the Huskies fought off an early second-half run by the Lady Bears to earn a 70-50 victory Sunday night.
UConn led 39-26 at halftime and 41-26 early in the second half; but, Baylor scored 12 straight points to pull within three points with 14:55 left in the half to send the Baylor fans into a frenzy. However, Moore and Charles answered the run and combined for 10 points during a 12-2 run and restore order.
The Huskies earned win number 77 in a row and advanced to the championship game to face Stanford Tuesday night in the NCAA Championship game at 7:30 p.m. (CDT).
