Tulane's Dynah Jones, Tulsa's Temira Poindexter Capture Season's Final Women's Basketball Weekly Awards

The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league's weekly women's basketball honors, for the week ending Sunday, February 27.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Dynah Jones * Redshirt-Junior * Guard * Tulane
Jones was a force on the offensive end in a 2-0 Tulane week, helping the Green Wave run its active winning streak to nine games overall with an average of 21.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest. Jones poured in a career-high 25 points, including 10 points and the tying bucket during a fourth-quarter rally, in a 67-58 win against SMU on February 23. Jones logged 18 points and three rebounds for Tulane in a road win at Temple on February 26.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Temira Poindexter * Forward * Tulsa
Poindexter turned in an impactful performance for Tulsa during a 61-49 win over Wichita State in the team's season home finale on February 27. Poindexter scored nine points and added six assists, four rebounds and two steals to the stat sheet for the Golden Hurricane.
Weekly Honor Roll
Destiny Thomas * Junior * Forward * UCF
Thomas scored 16 points and chipped in 12 rebounds in the regular-season championship clinching win for UCF over Cincinnati (February 26); shot 70.0 percent from the floor and recorded two steals against the Bearcats.
Taniyah Thompson * Junior * Guard * East Carolina
Thompson turned in 12th 20-point game this season by erupting for 29 points in East Carolina's battle at South Florida (February 27); shot 64.7 percent (11-of-17) from the field and pulled down three rebounds for the Pirates.
Britney Onyeje * Redshirt-Junior * Guard * Houston
Onyeje averaged 13.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.0 steals per game for 2-0 Houston; scored 10 points and dished out four assists with five steals in a win over Temple (February 23) and logged 17 points, four rebounds and three steals against SMU (February 26).
Elisa Pinzan * Junior * Guard * South Florida
Pinzan posted averages of 16.0 points, 5.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds during a 3-0 South Florida week; scored 22 points, including 18 in the second half, in a comeback to open a home-and home series with Wichita State (February 22).
Mia Davis * Graduate * Forward * Temple
Davis averaged 24.5 points and shot 53.3 percent (16-of-30) in a pair of games for Temple; logged 24 points at Houston (February 23) and registered a double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds against Tulane (February 26).
