USF's Elena Tsineke, Temple's Aniya Gourdine Earn AAC Women's Hoops Honors for week ending January 23

The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league's weekly women's basketball honors, for the week ending Sunday, January 23.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Elena Tsineke * Sophomore * Guard * South Florida
Tsineke was a late-game offensive force for South Florida in a pair of comeback victories last week, averaging 27.5 points per game on 44.7 percent (17-of-38) shooting from the field. Tsineke also hit 17-of-20 (.850) tries from the free-throw line. Tsineke tallied a season-high 30 points, including 19 in the second half, and the go-ahead free throws in the final 15 seconds to help the Bulls erase a late deficit in a 66-63 win over Tulsa on January 19. Tsineke added 25 points, with 23 coming in the second half and overtime, and the ultimate game-winning jumper to key a South Florida 75-67 rally past Temple on January 22.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Aniya Gourdine * Guard * Temple
Gourdine averaged 9.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game for Temple in a 1-1 road trip. Gourdine scored six points and added five rebounds, three assists and two steals in a 56-41 win at East Carolina on January 19. Gourdine shined with 12 points, 10 assists and eight boards for the Owls in a narrow 75-67 overtime loss at South Florida on January 22.
Weekly Honor Roll
Caitlyn Wilson * Junior * Guard * Cincinnati
Wilson averaged 17.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game in a 2-0 Cincinnati week; turned in 17 points and three steals in a road win at Houston (January 19) and added 17 points and five rebounds in an upset of previous conference unbeaten UCF (January 22).
Emani Jefferson * Sophomore * Guard * Memphis
Jefferson logged 10.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest for 1-1 Memphis; scored 17 points with four rebounds and two steals at Tulane (January 19) and tallied 13 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals in a win at Houston (January 22).
Mia Davis * Graduate * Forward * Temple
Davis registered 20.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in a 1-1 Temple week on the road; logged 15 points and five rebounds in a victory at East Carolina (January 19) and a game-high 26 points in an overtime setback at South Florida (January 22).
Dynah Jones * Redshirt-Junior * Guard * Tulane
Jones keyed a 3-0 week for Tulane with averages of 15.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.0 steals per game; went for 17 points each in home wins against Memphis (January 19) and Wichita State (January 22).
Temira Poindexter * Freshman * Forward * Tulsa
Poindexter scored 10 points for Tulsa in a heartbreaking three-point loss at South Florida (January 19); chipped in five rebounds and two blocked shots against the Bulls.
