USF's Bethy Mununga, Cincinnati's I'ImarI Thomas, Tulane's JerKaila Jordan Named Top Players In Women's Basketball Week Six

The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league's weekly women's basketball honors, for the week ending Sunday, January 3.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Bethy Mununga * Senior * Forward * USF
Mununga shined in a pair of wins for first place USF last week, averaging 17.0 points and 14.0 rebounds per game while shooting .667 (12-of-18) from the field. After scoring 11 points and pulling down seven rebounds at Tulsa on December 30, She erupted for 23 points, 21 boards (six offensive) and three steals in a win over East Carolina on January 2. Mununga became just the third player in American history to score 20 or more points and pull down 21 or more rebounds in the game.
IImar'I Thomas * Senior * Forward * Cincinnati
Thomas continued her dazzling senior season with an All-America effort at Wichita State on January 2, tallying 24 points, 17 rebounds (eight offensive), five assists and three blocks in a Cincinnati road victory. Thomas, the leading scorer in The American with 27.6 points per game and a .613 field goal percentage, ranks second in Division I in scoring as of January 4.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
JerKaila Jordan * Guard * Tulane
Jordan earned top conference weekly honors for the fourth time (third freshman of the week citation) in her rookie season after scoring 15 points on 7-of-10 (.700) shooting with three rebounds and three steals in a Tulane win over Memphis on January 2. Through eight career games, Jordan ranks third in The American with 15.6 points per game, shooting at a .447 (46-of-103) clip.

Dynah Jones * Junior * Guard * Tulane
Jones tallied a team-high 19 points on an 8-for-12 (.667) performance from the field, including hitting 3-of-4 from beyond the arc, in a Tulane victory against Memphis; added three rebounds, two assists and a pair of steals
Courtajia Sanders * Senior * Guard * UCF
Sanders turned in a double-double for undefeated UCF against Houston, scoring 17 points and pulling down 10 rebounds; added three steals in the victory over the Cougars
Eryka Sidney * Redshirt-Senior * Guard * Houston
Sidney averaged 13.0 points per contest on a remarkable .750 (9-of-12) shooting and .800 (8-for-10) from behind the 3-point line last week for 1-1 Houston; hit all six shots from the field (five 3-pointers) for 17 points against Wichita State
Lashonda Monk * Senior * Guard * East Carolina
Monk scored 13 points to share the team lead for East Carolina against No. 21/22 USF; chipped in three rebounds, three assists and four steals against the Bulls
Seraphine Bastin * Junior * Guard * Wichita State
Bastin averaged 13.0 points and 10.5 rebounds over two games last week for Wichita State; scored 18 points and had 11 rebounds and four assists at Houston before narrowly missing a triple-double (eight points, 10 boards, 10 assists) against Cincinnati
