UConn's Megan Walker named AAC Player of the Week; UConn's Anna Makurat named AAC Freshman of the Week

The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league's weekly women's basketball honors, for the week ending Sunday, February 23.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Megan Walker * Junior * Forward * UConn
Walker averaged 19.0 points per game and 8.0 rebounds per contest in a pair of conference victories against Tulane (Feb. 19) and UCF (Feb. 22) last week. The wins clinched UConn's seventh consecutive American Athletic Conference regular-season championship. Walker scored 18 points and chipped in five rebounds and five assists against Tulane, shooting 58.3 percent from the field (8-for-12). She led all scorers with 20 points and pulled down 11 boards for her ninth double-double of the year in the win over UCF, to go along with six assists and three steals.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Anna Makurat * Guard * UConn
Makurat earned freshman of the week honors for the third time this season after logging 17.5 points per game and 5.0 rebounds for 2-0 UConn last week. She finished the week hitting 65 percent of her shots from the floor, including a 50 percent clip from beyond the arc. Makurat scored 18 points to go along with five rebounds, five assists and six steals in the win over Tulane (Feb. 19). Against UCF (Feb. 22) she scored 17 points, all in the second half, on 75 percent shooting while adding five rebounds in the win for the Huskies.

Averaged 20.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game for Cincinnati in wins over Houston (Feb. 18) and Tulane (Feb. 23) to move into second place outright in The American; logged eighth double-double of the season with 16 points and 13 rebounds against Houston, and added 25 points, five boards and five assists in the victory over Tulane
Mia Davis * Junior * Forward * Temple
Led Temple in a 1-1 week with 18.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, shooting 54.8 percent against Memphis (Feb. 19) and East Carolina (Feb. 22); scored 23 points on 11-of-16 shooting and added eight rebounds against Memphis before registering a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds versus ECU
Lashonda Monk * Junior * Guard * East Carolina
Averaged 17.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 5.5 steals for ECU in a pair of wins over Tulsa (Feb. 19) and Temple (Feb. 22); became ECU's career leader in steals after logging nine, to go along with 17 points and five assists against Tulsa, and turned in 17 points, eight helpers and two steals versus Temple
Amber Bacon * Sophomore * Guard * SMU
Averaged 16.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week that featured wins over Wichita State (Feb. 19) and Houston (Feb. 22); paced SMU with 17 points and added five rebounds, four assists and two steals against Wichita State before scoring a game-high 15 points to go along with eight boards in the Houston victory

Logged 10.0 points, 10.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists per contest for 1-1 Wichita State in games against SMU (Feb. 19) and Tulsa (Feb. 23); filled the stat sheet with eight points, six rebounds and seven assists versus SMU before tallying a double-double of 12 points, a game-high 15 rebounds and four assists in the win over Tulsa
