Houston's Dymond Gladney named AAC Player of the Week; ECU's Taniyah Thompson named AAC Freshman of the Week

The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league's weekly women's basketball honors, for the week ending Sunday, February 2.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Dymond Gladney * Sophomore * Guard * Houston
Gladney had a career week, averaging 22.5 points, three rebounds, 1.5 assists and three steals per game as Houston went 1-1 and rose to 4-4 in conference play. In Saturday's 66-60 overtime win at Tulane, Gladney dropped a career-high 29 points on 9-of-20 shooting (45 percent) with six 3-pointers. The sophomore added four rebounds, three assists and five steals in 45 minutes of play. Earlier in the week, she led the Cougars with 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting on the road at USF.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Taniyah Thompson * Guard * ECU
Thompson led ECU in scoring in both outings last week that included a 71-65 win over Memphis on Tuesday. She averaged 22.5 points, two rebounds, an assist and a steal, scoring 20 points against the Tigers and 25 on the road at Wichita State. Thompson connected for four 3-pointers in both contests and is the conference's highest-scoring freshman this season at 12.8 points per game.

Posted a pair of double-figure performances, scoring a team-high 19 at UConn on Thursday and 14 in Sunday's win over USF; added 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and four steals per game

Scored a game-high 24 points on 7-of-13 shooting (53.8 percent) with five 3-pointers in UConn's 80-50 win over Cincinnati; added five assists, three boards and a steal
Jamirah Shutes * Sophomore * Guard * Memphis
Dropped a career-high 32 points, going 9-of-13 from the field and a perfect 5-for-5 five long range on Tuesday against ECU; dished out two assists and grabbed four rebounds in 36 minutes
Marissa Mackins * Sophomore * Guard * Temple
Led all scorers with 22 points, including five triples, in Temple's 67-65 win over UCF on Wednesday; snagged four rebounds with five assists and a steal
