Tulane's JerKaila Jordan named AAC Player of the Week; Tulsa's Wyvette Mayberry named AAC Freshman of the Week for Week ending December 13

The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league's weekly women's basketball honors, for the week ending Sunday, December 13.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JerKaila Jordan * Freshman * Guard * USF
Jordan became the first freshman to claim The American's top player of the week honor since December of 2018 after shining for Tulane in a nonconference road victory at Middle Tennessee on December 9. Jordan scored a career-high 22 points on 7-of-15 shooting against the Blue Raiders, including 3-of-5 attempts from 3-point range, pulling down seven rebounds. She added four assists, three steals and a blocked shot in the Green Wave victory. Jordan, the league freshman of the week in the first two award cycles of 2020-21, ranks third in The American with 19.3 points per game and is also in the conference top 10 in rebounds, assists and steals.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Wyvette Mayberry * Guard * Tulsa
Mayberry was efficient in her debut game for Tulsa at Oklahoma State on December 13, scoring a team-high 16 points in a 69-62 road win over the Cowboys. Despite only seeing 11 minutes of action, she connected on 4-of-5 3-point attempts and all four shots from the free-throw line, to go along with two rebounds and a blocked shot. Mayberry exited the game due to injury late in the first quarter before returning with less than five minutes remaining in the game to score 10 points in the final quarter for the Golden Hurricane.

Fankam Mendjiadeu led all players with 16 points and 15 rebounds (eight offensive) in Memphis win over McNeese State; leads all American players with three double-doubles this season (averaging 16.0 points, 13.3 rebounds per game)
Elena Tsineke * Sophomore * Guard * USF
Tsineke scored 16 points, pulled down four rebounds and blocked two shots in blowout win for No. 23 USF against Stetson; finished the game an even .500 from the floor (5-for-10), hitting 4-of-7 shots (.571) from beyond the arc
Miya Crump * Redshirt-Sophomore * Guard * Houston
Crump tallied a season-high 16 points to go along with three rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks in Houston victory over Stephen F. Austin; nailed 6-of-11 shots (.545) from the floor and an even 4-for-8 from 3-point range
Taniyah Thompson * Sophomore * Guard * East Carolina
Thompson scored 18 points and notched two steals in a three-point triumph for East Carolina against VCU; hit three shots from beyond the arc while finishing the game shooting .444 (8-of-18) overall
IImar'I Thomas * Senior * Forward * Cincinnati
Thomas averaged 28.5 points and 8.0 rebounds for Cincinnati in a pair of setbacks last week against Marquette and Central Michigan; shot a sizzling .741 (20-for-27) from the floor and was 17-for-20 (.850) from the free-throw line for the Bearcats
