UConn's Megan Walker and Anna Makurat Tabbed AAC Women's Hoops Winners for Week ending January 19

The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league's weekly women's basketball honors, for the week ending Monday, January 19.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Megan Walker * Junior * Forward * UConn

Walker led UConn to three conference wins in six days, averaging 19 points, 7.3 rebounds, two assists and 2.7 steals per game. The junior converted on 21-of-40 (52.5 percent) from the field over the three games, which included victories over Memphis, UCF and Tulsa. Walker scored 14 points with nine boards at Memphis, dishing out three assists and four steals, and followed with a team-high 19 points at UCF. She then went off for a game-high 24 points on 9-of-12 shooting against Tulsa on Sunday.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

Anna Makurat * Guard * UConn

Makurat capped UConn's 3-0 week with a career outing against Tulsa on Sunday, scoring 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting with four 3-pointers, six rebounds and five assists in a 92-34 win. The outing was part of a breakout week for Makurat, who averaged 12.3 points, four rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.7 steals for the Huskies. On the week, she shots 54.2 percent from the field, 53.3 percent from beyond the arc and was perfect at the free throw line (3-3).

Kay Kay Wright * Senior * Guard * UCF

Averaged 23 points, five rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals in UCF's 1-1 week, that saw a win over USF and a seven-point loss to No. 4 UConn; led all scorers with 28 points, adding six boards, three assists and two steals in the Knights’ 64-57 War On I4 win Sunday

Tatyana Hill * Sophomore * Forward * Houston

Registered a 22-point, 12-rebound double-double in Houston's lone game of the week, a 72-63 win over ECU; shot 9-of-11 (81.8 percent) from the field and recorded a team-high three steals

Mia Davis * Junior * Forward * Temple

Averaged 24 points, 11.5 rebounds and two assists per game in Temple's 1-1 week, including her conference-leading 12th double-double with 23 points and 15 rebounds at Wichita State; scored 25 points with eight boards in a win over USF

Krystal Freeman * Junior * Forward * Tulane

Scored a career-high 30 points, including the game-winning 3-point buzzer-beater, in Tulane's 67-66 win at SMU; averaged 17.5 points, seven rebounds, 2.5 assists and 3.5 steals per game as the Green Wave rose to 5-0 in conference play

Seraphine Bastin * Sophomore * Guard * Wichita State

Was an all-around threat in Wichita State's 2-0 week, averaging 12.5 points, five rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game; scored a team-high 13 points to help erase a 13-point deficit against Tulsa and went a perfect 11-of-11 from the foul line on the week
