Cincinnati's IImar'I Thomas, USF's Kristyna Brabencova Tabbed AAC Women's Hoops Winners for Week ending January 12

The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league's weekly women's basketball honors, for the week ending Monday, January 12.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

IImar’I Thomas * Junior * Forward * Cincinnati

Thomas had a record-setting week in back-to-back conference wins for Cincinnati, averaging 27.5 points, 11 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game while shooting 80 percent (20-of-25) from the field. On Wednesday, she posted a 23-point, 14-rebound double-double as the Bearcats defeated Memphis 73-66. Thomas then put forth a career-high 32 points on 12-of-13 shooting and a perfect 8-of-8 from the foul line in Cincinnati’s 81-64 win over UCF, adding eight rebounds and four assists in 37 minutes.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

Kristyna Brabencova * Guard * USF

Brabencova was key in USF's 68-52 win at Tulsa on Sunday, scoring a career-high 17 points in 33 minutes. The freshman went 6-of-9 from the field with a pair of 3-pointers and 3-for-3 from the free throw line, snagging five rebounds. She rounded out her line with two assists, three steals and two blocks. The victory was USF's first road win of the season as the Bulls rose to 2-0 in league play.

Christyn Williams * Sophomore * Guard * UConn

Posted back-to-back 21-point performances with seven rebounds, three assists and 1.5 steals per game in UConn's 1-1 week, featuring a setback to No. 6 Baylor and win over Houston; shot 55.6 (15-of-27) from the field

Sydni Harvey * Sophomore * Guard * USF

Scored a season-high 20 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field, with six buckets from beyond the arc, in USF's win at Tulsa on Sunday; added three rebounds, an assist and two steals

Mia Davis * Junior * Forward * Temple

Averaged a 19.5-point, 14.5-rebound double-double in conference wins over Houston and SMU; posted a conference-high 18 rebounds against the Cougars and recorded 23 points and 11 boards against SMU, shooting 57.1 percent from the field on the week

Arsula Clark * Junior * Guard * Tulane

Was key in Tulane's 2-0 week in conference play, including wins over Tulsa and Memphis; averaged 19 points, six rebounds, 1.5 assists and 5.5 steals per game as the Green Wave rose to 3-0 in The American

Alexis Gaulden * Senior * Guard * Tulsa

Doubled her season average with 16.5 points per game last week, scoring 14 against Tulane and 19 against USF; averaged five rebounds, five steals and five assists per game and shot 40 percent from the floor
