SOURCES: Cynthia Cooper frontrunner to be next head coach at Texas Southern

A press conference has been scheduled for Tuesday, April 30, at noon, to announce the next women's basketball head coach.

Sources tell me Cynthia Cooper is the frontrunner to be named the next women's basketball head coach at Texas Southern University. An announcement could happen as soon as Tuesday.

This would be Cooper's second stint as head coach at Texas Southern. She led the Lady Tigers to a 20-13 overall record (16-2 in the SWAC) in the 2012-'13 season.

Texas Southern conducted a nation-wide search for the next women's basketball head coach; and, numerous coaches expressed interest in the job - including Sheryl Swoopes.
