Houston adds Crump, Jones, Netherly, and Sidney to roster

Houston Cougars women's basketball Head Coach Ronald Hughey and his staff continue adding players to the roster this offseason.

Wednesday, April 10, 5'6" guard Eryka Sidney announced she's transferring from Texas Tech to attend UH and play basketball for the Coogs.

Eryka graduated from Houston Wheatley HS. She attended San Jacinto College her freshman and sophomore seasons and Texas Tech during the 2018-'19 season. Eryka played in 30 games for Tech; started 12. She averaged 4.2 points 1.6 rebounds 2.4 assists, and 0.7 steals in 20.2 minutes per game. Eryka shot 31.8 percent from the floor including 22.7 percent from three.

Earlier this week, on Monday, April 8, 6'1" Miya Crump announced she has committed to Houston after deciding to transfer from Lamar University.

"It's just an overall good fit for me," Crump told Matt Faye of The Beaumont Enterprise. "Feels good to go back home."

Crump graduated from Houston Yates HS. Crump, 6'1", was Newcomer of the Year in the Southland Conference last season. She averaged 14.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 27.5 minutes per game for Lamar in 2018-'19. She shot 43.2% from the floor; 36.4% from three; and 63.7 from the foul line.

On April 1, 5'11" Paris Netherly announced her decision to transfer to UH from Florida International University (FIU).

Netherly graduated from Crosby High School. Freshman year at FIU, Paris averaged 5.4 points per game and 4.2 rebounds per game. She had 12 starts in 29 games and had a 29.3 fg% and 26.4 3pt%.

Three weeks ago, Houston received a commitment 6'2" Maya Jones from Jones County Junior College.

Jones, from Flowood, MS, started 17 of 31 games last season and averaged 8.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.8 blocks, and 1.7 steals per game. She shot 51.5% from the floor; 37.5% from three; and 60.8% from the free throw line.

Jones is eligible to play in the 2019-'20 season for the Coogs.

Currently, it's not certain whether or not any of the three transfers will be eligible in 2019-'20.
