Lauren Schwartz verbal commits to Rice Owls women's basketball

Wednesday night, Lauren Schwartz, 5'11" guard / forward, from Ryle High School in Kentucky, announced her decision to attend Rice University and play basketball for Head Coach Tina Langley:

In addition to Rice, Schwartz received college offers from Butler, Northern Kentucky, and Xavier.
Schwartz was part of a Ryle squad that finished last season with a 29-7 record; won its first-ever Ninth Region championship; and advanced to the state quarterfinals. Schwartz also played grassroots / AAU ball for the Kentucky Premier basketball program.
Based on MaxPreps.com, Schwartz averaged 17.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.8 blocks per game last season. She was named to the Cincinnati Enquirer's 2017-2018 Winter All-Stars for Ohio and Northern Kentucky First Team.
Schwartz joins Destiny Jackson, Ashlee Austin, India Bellamy, and Katelyn Crosthwait as members of the Class of 2019 to commit to Rice.
The Early Signing Period to sign National Letters of Intent is November 14-21, 2018.
