September 20, 2018
The American Athletic Conference released its 2018-19 women's basketball composite league schedule on Thursday, consisting of 96 conference contests. Forty-one games will be nationally televised on ESPN networks and CBS Sports Network, with another 15 airing on the American Digital Network.
For the second-straight year, The American's 12 members will play a 16-game schedule. Each team will play five of its 11 opponents twice, and six opponents once each – three at home and three away. The 2018-19 NCAA women's basketball season will tip off on Tuesday, Nov. 6 with conference play beginning on Friday, Jan. 4.
The 2018-19 conference slate kicks off with four national telecasts in the opening weekend of January. Temple hosts USF at 2 p.m. Central Time; and, UCF travels to Memphis at 4 p.m. CT, January 5, with both matchups on CBS Sports Network. The next day, UConn tips off against Houston at the newly-minted Fertitta Center on CBS Sports Network at 11 a.m. CT, with SMU and Cincinnati appearing on ESPN2 at the same time, when the Bearcats’ newly-renovated Fifth Third Arena will make its national broadcast debut.
In total, 11 conference games will air on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU, including a March 4 contest between UConn and USF (ESPN2) and the War on I4 matchup between UCF and USF on February 3 (ESPN2). Six other American teams – Cincinnati, Houston, Memphis, SMU, Temple and Wichita State – will appear in at least one ESPN cable telecast. The American schedule boasts 26 games to be streamed live on ESPN3, including multiple telecasts for every team. Games aired on an ESPN network will also be available through the ESPN App, accessible on computers, smartphones, tablets and connected devices to fans who receive their video subscription from an affiliated provider.
Fifteen conference women's basketball games will be produced and distributed live by the American Digital Network (ADN). The most in-depth coverage of the 2018 American Athletic Conference women's basketball season can once again be found on the ADN, the comprehensive streaming video platform of The American and its 12 member institutions. Live content will be available on Facebook at facebook.com/AmericanDigitalNetworkPlus, including full coverage of 2018 Basketball Media Day, Monday, October 15. The first ADN broadcast is scheduled for Friday, January 4, at 7 p.m. CT, when Wichita State travels to Tulsa.
