HBU signs 6'6" Pedro Castro to National Letter of Intent

HBU Head Men's Basketball Coach Ron Cottrell announced the signing of Pedro Castro to a National Letter of Intent to join the HBU program for the 2020-21 season on Thursday afternoon.
Castro, a 6'6" guard from Fort Worth, is a junior college transfer from nearby Blinn College where he played his sophomore season under head coach Scott Schumacher. During the 2019-20 season he started 30 of the Buccaneers' 33 games, averaging 10.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. As a sophomore, he shot 39.1 percent from behind the arc and connected on 49.5 percent from the floor. Additionally, Castro led the team with 3.6 assists per game while also adding 1.5 blocks and one steal per game. As a freshman at UT Arlington, he appeared in 33 games while starting three. He averaged 2.6 points and 2.1 rebounds per outing, scoring eight points three times.
