Devin Davis Signs Contract with Orlando Magic
September 28, 2018
University of Houston forward Devin Davis became the latest Cougar to join the NBA when he signed a contract with the Orlando Magic Thursday, September 27, 2018. Per team policy, terms of the deal are not disclosed.
In 2017-18, Davis was the only Cougar to start all 35 games while helping lead Houston to its first NCAA Tournament victory since 1984. The Indianapolis native averaged 10.9 points per game and was the Cougars' leading rebounder with 6.3 rebounds per contest.
He ranked among the American Athletic Conference's top-30 leaders in both scoring and rebounding and stood 15th after hitting nearly 49 percent of his shots from the field.
Davis led all players with 28 points on 10-of-14 shooting and added 10 rebounds in a win over SEC opponent Arkansas inside H&PE Arena on December 2, 2017. It was one of his team-leading five double-doubles in 2017-18.
In 55 games during his Houston career, Davis posted 9.9 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
Davis became the third Cougar in the last two years sign an NBA contract. Guard Damyean Dotson was taken in the Second Round of the 2017 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks, while guard Rob Gray signed with the Houston Rockets earlier this summer.
