Marcus Sasser Jr. commits to Houston Cougars

The Houston Cougars men's basketball program received a verbal commitment from 6'2" guard Marcus Sasser Jr. Monday evening.

Sasser Jr. chose the University of Houston and Head Coach Kelvin Sampson among his final 4 school choices of Colorado State, SMU, and UTEP.
In August 2018, He told Kellen Buffington of TheTB5Reports what he likes about UH: "Nice school, nice environment, nice coaching staff, nice fan base and they just have a great style of play. Coach Sampson and I have built a strong relationship through the recruiting process."
Buffington describes Sasser Jr. "a combo guard who can score from all three levels and make plays for his teammates. He is a tremendous defender that plays passing lanes well."
Sasser Jr. attends Red Oak High School in the Dallas / Fort Worth / Arlington, TX area. He also plays grassroots / AAU basketball for Urban DFW Elite.

The Dallas Morning News named Marcus "Newcomer of the Year" for District 10-5A for the 2017-'18 season.
Marcus' uncle is 1996 Southwest Conference Player of the Year Jason Sasser who attended Texas Tech.
Sasser Jr joins J'Wan Roberts and Caleb Mills as part of Houston's Class of 2019 verbal commits.
The Early Signing Period to sign National Letters of Intent is November 14-21, 2018.
