James Harden continued his assault on the NBA record book Saturday evening in the Houston Rockets' 119-108 win over the Sacramento Kings.
Harden had 50 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for his fifth 50-point triple-double of his career and his second this season. Russell Westbrook has three career 50-point triple-doubles; no other player has recorded more than two in NBA history. Harden scored his 50 points in 37 minutes of play. It is the fourth time he has scored 50 plus points in fewer than 40 minutes of play this season and the seventh time in his career. Kobe Bryant recorded five games doing so for his career while Michael Jordan had four. Harden has scored 50 or more points nine times this season. No other player did so more than four times in a single season since Bryant had 10 50-point games in 2006-07. Over the past six games, Harden has scored 257 points in 219 minutes of play. He has 2,656 points in 2,712 minutes of play overall this season. Harden hit 7 three-point shots Saturday night, giving him an even 2,000 for his career. He is the ninth player to reach that milestone in NBA history.

"It's remarkable what he does and he does it every night," Mike D'Antoni, Rockets Head Coach said.

Eric Gordon said he's grown accustomed to Harden's spectacular performances: "Yeah, I've seen it so often; but, this was like a quiet 50 triple-double. But it's been a special year for him; he's had a lot of special games like that; and, it's been a special year for him."
Harden's response was matter-of-fact: "I wasn't worried about it...just wanted to be aggressive."
Chris Paul: "You know, he's played at a high level all-season long and we've been needing it."
