Rockets Sign Michael Frazier to Two-Way Contract
Posted: October 20, 2019 -- 6:35 p.m. CT
Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey today announced that the team has signed free agent guard Michael Frazier to a two-way contract.
NBA teams may have up to two players under NBA Two-Way Contracts who will spend the bulk of the season in the NBA G League and not more than 45 days with their NBA team. Two-Way players are paid a corresponding daily amount based on the number of days they play in each league. Only players in their fourth NBA season or earlier are able to sign Two-Way Contracts, which can be for either one or two seasons.
Frazier (6'3", 200) originally signed with the Rockets in April and was with the team for the first five games of preseason. He was named the 2018-19 NBA G League Most Improved Player after averaging 16.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.3 steals for Rio Grande Valley.
During the Vipers championship run in the 2019 G League playoffs, Frazier averaged 21.0 points and 4.8 3-pointers made on 49.0% shooting. In February, he was a member of USA Men's World Cup Qualifying Team and averaged team-highs of 17.0 points and 6.5 rebounds in the two games.
NOTE:
Saturday night, the Rockets announced they waived forward Matur Maker, guard Shamorie Ponds, and forward / center Ray Spalding.
