Trevor Ariza agrees to 1-year, $15 million deal with Suns
One of the biggest surprises of the NBA's free agent frenzy was Trevor Ariza's decision to agree to a 1-year, $15 million deal with the Phoenix Suns.

Ariza's decision to leave the Houston Rockets creates an opening in the Rockets' starting line up. Ariza was the Rockets' ultimate Swiss-army knife: he was a key to their switching defenses; and, Ariza's ability to knock down three-point shots (36.8 percent from three) was key to the Rockets' spacing on offense.
Ariza, 33, averaged 11.7 points and 4.4 rebounds for the Rockets last season, shooting 36.8 percent from 3-point range; however, Ariza's last game with the Rockets will not be forgotten: Ariza was scoreless in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals against the Golden State Warriors. Ariza missed all 12 of his field goal attempts -- including 0 for 9 on three-point shots.
Due to the NBA's moratorium, July 6 is the earliest Ariza can sign the contract with the Suns.
