Jalen Green scored season-high 28 points in Rockets' 128-94 rout of Lakers

HOUSTON, TX (Toyota Center) -- Jalen Green scored a season-high 28 points in a 128-94 rout of the Los Angeles Lakers Wednesday night. The Rockets jumped on the Lakers early and never looked back. Houston never trailed in the game.

The Rockets (4-3) have won 4 in a row after losing its first three games of the season while L.A. has dropped three straight after a 3-2 start. The last time the Rockets were above .500 was at 11-10 on 2/4/21.

Houston led by as much as 35 points in the game. The Rockets' lead didn't get below 18 points the final 30 minutes of the game.

Lakers' Head Coach Darvin Ham credited the Rockets after the game.

"They're a young, fast, athletic ball club," Ham said. "(Alperen) Sengun is a helluva player. Jalen Green, helluva young player."

Green's 28 points season-high 28 points came on 11 for 15 field goal shooting in 21:28 minutes of play. The last time a Rocket scored at least 28 points while playing 22 or fewer minutes was John Block with 29 points in 21 minutes vs. Cleveland on Nov. 22, 1970.

Sengun added 19 points (8 for 10 field goals), 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. Fred VanVleet had 10 assists with just one turnover. He has 59 assists with 12 turnovers this season.

Jae'Sean Tate had 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting off the bench.

The Rockets outrebounded the Lakers 57-34. Houston has outrebounded its opponent in each of the past three games, including by 10+ twice, after not doing so in any of the first four games of the season.

Houston had 26 assists with 13 turnovers. The Rockets have recorded 25+ assists in four straight games for the first time since a five-game span from 11/24-12/3/21. Houston is averaging 11.8 turnovers per game over the past five games after averaging 18.5 the first two games of the season.
