Harden scores 36 as Rockets top Knicks

HOUSTON, TX (Toyota Center) -- James Harden carried the Houston Rockets to a 91-86 victory over the New York Knicks Monday night.
With 5:05 remaining in the fourth quarter, the Rockets (11-3) trailed the Knicks 80-79.
Cue, James Harden.
Harden nailed a step back three-point shot to give the Rockets an 82-80 lead. Then, after New York's Iman Shumpert tied the game with a short jumper, Harden nailed another three-point shot. Following a miss by Travis Wear (in the game for Carmelo Anthony - who left due to back spasms), Harden sank two free throws for a five point (87-82) Rockets' lead with 3:07 on the game clock.
Neither team scored for nearly two minutes before Harden made two more free throws. Lastly, with 41.9 seconds remaining, Harden added two more free throws for a 91-82 lead. In four minutes and 24 seconds, James Harden outscored the Knicks 12-2.
The Knicks added four points in the final seconds to cap the scoring.
Harden finished the game with a season-high 36 points (11 for 22 field goals, 7 for 12 from three point range), six rebounds, six assists, three steals, and one blocked shot.
"I just know I had to be aggressive, that's it," Harden said after the game. "I just wanted to be aggressive; and, when my teammates look for me, I knock down shots and try to make plays."
