Houston's Todd Buchanan: "June 15th would be my magic date"

On May 11, Tari Cummings left the University of Houston's women's basketball coach to join the University of Arkansas' coaching staff. When she was at UH, Cummings worked as an assistant coach and also as the recruiting coordinator.

UH head coach Todd Buchanan hasn't replaced Cummings, yet; but, the process is well underway to fill a vital role on the Cougars' coaching staff.

“No set time table. I'm going to take my time,” Buchanan said. “I'm going to do my due diligence. It’s certainly a huge, huge role. She (Tari Cummings former assistant. coach / recruiting coordinator) is a big piece to the puzzle to have to replace to say the least.

“I'm going to do the due diligence; and, we're going to go through it. We're collecting names and getting information. Ultimately, June 15th would be my magic date to have somebody in the offense and working and giving us plenty of prep time to go into July recruiting.”

The NCAA's first summer evaluation period of 2011 is July 6 - 15. The second summer evaluation period is July 22 - 31.
