Coogs improve to 3-0 in The American with 63-45 win over Tulane

HOUSTON, TX (Hofheinz Pavilion) -- The Houston Cougars didn't shoot the ball very well Tuesday night; but, their defense delivered in a 63-45 conference win over the Tulane Green Wave.
The Coogs limited the Green Wave to 32.7% (17 for 52) shooting from the floor. The 45 points are the fewest scored by the Green Wave this season.
The Coogs (13-2 overall, 3-0 in conference) led the Green Wave 37-17 at halftime.
Sophomore guard Rob Gray, Jr. led three Coogs in double-digit scoring with a game-high 15 points. Devonta Pollard and Danrad "Chicken" Knowles each scored 13 points. Senior LeRon Barnes came off the bench and grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds in 23 minutes of action.
The Coogs led by as much as 25 points in the game. Tulane (7-9 overall, 0-3) did not get closer than 16 points to the Coogs in the second half.
The Coogs' next game is Wednesday, January 13, at Cincinnati. Tip is set for 6 p.m. on ESPNU.
