HOUSTON, TX (Hofheinz Pavilion) -- Danuel House nailed a three-point shot with 22 seconds remaining to seal a tough 76-70 victory for the Houston Cougars over the Texas State Bobcats Friday night in front of an announced crowd of 3,123 gathered inside cozy Hofheinz Pavilion.

House finished the game with a game-high 24 points while teammate TaShawn Thomas added 22 points; seven rebounds; and three blocked shots.

House was the catalyst for the Coogs' in the first half with 17 points in only 13 minutes of action. House took advantage of the referees' new emphasis calling touch fouls by getting to the foul line to shoot 9 free throws (he made seven).

The Cougars (1-0) led Texas State (0-1) 46-41 at halftime.

After the game, Houston head coach James Dickey was not thrilled with his team's defense.
