We are planning on leaving our northern home around 3:30-4:00 PM tomorrow...as soon as Mr. SORF gets home from work. Hopefully, that will get us down there by 5:00- 5:30PM so we can find a place to have dinner before the doors open. And, what time do those doors open? Hilton do you hear us asking? When do the doors open???? |

CB is correct. There will be a pre-game ceremony tomorrow. "Baby, if I don't love you, grits ain't groceries; eggs ain't poultry; and Mona Lisa was a man." |

Re: the first home game Tuesday night ... it would really be nice if they publicize if the banner-raising activities will be before the game or during halftime so fans will know if they need to get to the arena early. I can imagine it may be pretty chaotic since it's a new location in the city, new parking situation, new arena, etc. ... and it won't help matters if people miss out on pregame events if that's what's planned. Kris, can you find out for sure what time they intend to raise the banners? Oh, one bit of advertising I noticed ... got a PapaJohn's Pizza advertisement in the mail and it had the Comets logo on it ... said they are an official sponsor. So maybe that means we'll have good pizza at the concession stand! |

I don't like listening thru the computer, but I won't complain too much. I have a hard time following it. Guess it's just me. Very, extremely disappointed H didn't take care of business. Going to be a long season if KT doesn't get a grip. Her style of coaching doesn't seem to win games. Maybe all will be better Tues. night. Am a little afraid of Tues. night..new everything, with same old DCO! Wonder if we will get any info before hand, on all the festivities?? |

Ah well SORF looks like they gave it a good try. The AP article is pretty vague but it seems like a close one by two of the worst teams in the league so far. They are Nancy Lieberman's sleeper teams so not sure if that bodes well for them or not. Nice to know the guy would at least correct himself regarding Comets and Rockets. Yeah, if possible, I'd get a last second shot to Tina any day. I actually never thought Dixon was a very good shooter. Here is a little bit longer game article. Here is a short video of the game and a superb play by Tina. Looks like ESPN has some decent coverage. Usually a 3-point shot bounces back out behind the free throw line when missed. That rebound would problably go over Sancho's head into the hands of a guard...hopefully one of ours. But to take that rebound back behind the 3-point line to launch again within the original 3 seconds isn't likely. Also, I wouldn’t rely on refs calling fouls in the last seconds of the game…most refs won't call a foul in that situation. So statistically with less than 3 seconds left and 3 points down, I think it would have been better to go with the 3 for the tie and try to win it in OT. That's why I would pull Sancho and put in another 3 point shooter. That way you are putting the game in your hands and not in the control of the refs. KT did call the right play for a 3-point shot, but Dixon missed it. I think Ajavon and TT would have had a better chance to make it. As for the game, I began listening to it in the bottom of the second quarter...I was watching the Indy 500 prior to the game. Mistie and Maiga Ba had little minutes until the second half...I don't understand KT's "rotations", but she played a very quiet Snow for a lot of minutes...very rarely did I hear Snow mentioned. But then again, I was listening to Washington DC radio, so the broadcast might be more slanted to the Mystics than to the Comets. I will say one thing, it was funny that he kept calling us the Houston Rockets, and then he would laugh and correct it to the Comets. Thanks for the link CB...good photos except for the one that cut off Tina's head! (Message edited by SORF on May 25, 2008) |

Thanks SORF. I think everyone that gets the opportunity at the first home game should tell Hilton how disappointed they have been with no radio coverage, especially since the Comets have started the season on the road. Yeah it should be Maiga Ba's starting spot to lose. Karleen doesn't understand things like this IMO. But I see Mabika still has her hot temper so at least she got taken out. So what was the play - a timeout and Comets had the ball with 2.7 seconds left? Don't forget about Sancho being under the goal for a put back if the 3 pointer misses. She leaps high and might be fouled as you said. A last second attempt is better than just watching a 3pointer miss. Learning to draw a foul would be a very good skill for Sancho, she may have it, I don't know. What could you tell about Mistie and Sancho and Maiga Ba not getting that many minutes even though they seemed to be hitting? I noticed Ashley was one that DNP too. |

quote: From Coopsback... So was there any radio? Look at the stats and time for Sancho, Mistie and Maiga Ba - they were efficient but got little minutes. Still... Look at Tina and Dixon's minutes - running them into the ground. Still... Maiga Ba not starting in place of Mabika? S*cks after all the effort and good play of Maiga Ba last summer, she deserves her starting spot. Karleen still SUCKS. Woohoo, I get to see Seimone and Wiggins on Tuesday night.
No local station coverage; the radio coverage was from Washington DC. I agree with you, Maiga-Ba should start instead of Mabika...Mabika got a technical in the first three minutes and KT took her out. I also would start Ajavon instead of Dixon. Dixon should be a bench player. And I definitely would have Ajavon in the last 2.7 seconds for her 3-pt shooting. I adore Lyttle, but with 2.7 seconds left, down by three, the chances Lyttle could hit a basket and be fouled to get 3 points is very slim. Lyttle doesn't hit threes, so put in a player that can hit a three, like Ajavon. Rookie or not, she would have increased our chances of hitting a three. And why has the "steal of the 2007 draft" Ashley Shields not played the first two games; because she has not been listed in the boxscores. |
